Mahalapye Court remands duo pending inquest

Two men have been remanded for allegedly stealing goods amounting to P86 570 near Tamocha Primary School in Mahalapye on July 23.

The duo, 35-year-old Phatsimo Tshekiso and 24-year-old Keorapetse Gabaotshware, from Bokaa ward in Shoshong, appeared before Mahalapye Senior Magistrate Solomon Setshedi on July 27 for allegedly robbing and using violence to obtain property belonging to Ms Segomotso Chepete.

The goods include; a grey Audi A3 vehicle valued at P80 000, a Huawei Y9 cellular phone valued at P4 000, a Huawei Y7 cellular phone valued at P1 500, a Samsung Duos cellular phone valued at P800, an 80ml YDY perfume valued at P270 and P100 in cash.

Mahalapye Central Police Station’s Sub-Inspector Modiredi Modise pleaded with the court to remand the accused persons as the matter was still fresh and being investigated. 

The court also learnt that the third accused person on the matter was still at large.

Senior Magistrate Setshedi said the accused would remain in custody until August 10, 2020, when they would appear  for status update. 

The accused are allowed to bring their lawyers at their next court appearance. ENDS
