Kasane police have charged a 30-year-old Kgaphamadi woman for selling alcohol without a trading licence.
According to Superintendent James Maabong, the woman was apprehended on July 24 around 6pm after a tip off from a member of the community and was found selling alcoholic beverages at her home.
He said different alcoholic quarts valued at P880 were confiscated and she paid P2 500 as admission of guilty.
Superintendent Maabong indicated that while people were encouraged to buy alcohol and drink at home during this State of Emergency (SOE), they were however prohibited from reselling.
He said since the commencement of the SOE, five people were charged for brewing and selling traditional beer, seven for selling alcohol during lockdown and 56 were charged for drinking liquor at prohibited areas.
In a different matter, Supt Maabong said three men of Kgaphamadi aged 49, 29 and 27 years were charged for malicious damage to property and theft after they were found stealing rafters at the Seboba Recreational Park on July 25.
He said the total cost of the rafters, which the men allegedly said they were going to use as firewood, had not yet been established.
He said the value of the rafters would determine which court the culprits would be arraigned to.
Still in Kgaphamadi, Supt Maabong said on July 25, they registered a Gender Based Violence case in which a 35-year-old woman scalded her 30-year-old boyfriend with boiling water after a misunderstanding.
He said the woman would face a charge for assault and bodily harm, adding that she would be arraigned before court after the release of the victim’s medical report. ENDS
