Man charged with failure to comply cybercrime

Police in Letlhakane are investigating a case in which a 36-year-old man of Orapa, who operates a butchery was charged with failure to comply with trading license conditions and COVID-19 regulations.

Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu said that police recently arrested the suspect, together with two women during police patrol. 

Supt Maphephu said the police found a crowd of people hosting a babeque session at the suspect’s butchery, which also failed to mount the trading licence on the wall.

The suspect is said to have taken a video of the police while on duty and two women obstructed the police to deliver on their duty.

The suspect was charged with failure to comply with conditions of the trading license, since the license allowed him to sell fresh meat and fresh produce only.

Supt Maphephu said the suspect was also charged with failure to comply with conditions of COVID-19 regulations.

The two women aged 41 and 34 were charged with obstruction of justice. He indicated that the was also facing two cases of cybercrime and implored members of the public to abide by the law, citing that it was illegal to take people’s pictures without their permission. ENDS
