Gweta Police are investigating the death of a 28-year-old man of Sekao ward in Zoroga who was found hanging from a tree at Guguga settlement, about 30 kilometres from Gweta.
In an interview with BOPA, Gweta police station commander Superintendent Godfrey Mafa said they received a report on July 19 that a man had committed suicide.
Superintendent Mafa said upon investigation, they found out that the man had prior to committing suicide, stabbed his ex-girlfriend aged 29, also of Sekao ward, with a knife causing multiple stab wounds on her whole body.
He said both the deceased and the victim were rushed to Gweta Primary Hospital, where the man was certified dead, while the woman was transferred to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital in Francistown where she was hospitalised.
He said their investigations revealed that the two, who had long separated, met at Guguga on the fateful day, where the deceased approached the woman and her refusal to talk to him led to the gruesome incident.
He said investigations were still ongoing and appealed to members of the public to seek help when they have misunderstandings.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a young woman suffered serious head injuries, a broken leg and collarbone after the vehicle she was travelling in, with her male companion, was involved in an accident along the Nata/Maun road on July 20.
Nata police station commander Superintendent Vincent Pitsietsile said the two were rushed to Nata clinic and were transferred to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital.
He said the male victim was discharged on July 21, while the woman was still hospitalised. ENDS
