Three men, aged between 20 and 40 years, were on July 12, arrested for possessing a packaged plant suspected to be marijuana.
In an interview, Sejelo police station commander, Superintendent Mogomotsi Matlapeng said the trio was arrested along the Kanye/Moshana road after a tip-off that they might be dealing in marijuana.
He said one of the accused persons attempted to flee the scene and also assaulted a police officer, who was treated for minor injuries and discharged the same day.
Supt Matlapeng noted that the said accused person, aged between 20 and 25, would soon appear before Kanye magistrate court for resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
He said all the three were in custody awaiting forensic results to establish if indeed the package plant found in their possession was marijuana.
He appealed to members of the public to play a role in uprooting crime in their communities by alerting the police of any suspicious activities. On other issues, Supt. Matlapeng called for cooperation at fuel stations in the wake of the current fuel challenges.
He urged motorists to obey the new regulations and observe health protocols.
“We advise them to observe a reasonable distance between cars to cater for any emergencies and also desist from obstructing traffic, while queuing for fuel,” he said. Ends
