Murder accused, Moabi Molapisi, has been remanded in custody pending finalisation of investigations.

He appeared before Senior Magistrate Queen Moanga of Extension 2 court in Gaborone on Tuesday, charged with a single count of murder.

The prosecutor, Sub-Inspector Keoagile Gaseletsapa, asked that the accused person’s plea be reserved since the matter was fresh and investigations still at an initial stage.

Particulars of the offence are that Molapisi (40) of Matlapana ward in Maun allegedly murdered Ms Gofiwa Kabelo on June 30, 2020 at Lesetlhana ward in Ramotswa.

Sub-Insp. Gaseletsapa told the court that the investigating officer was still engaged with post mortem procedures and therefore could not appear before court to give an update on the investigations.

He further stated that the accused person was also suspected to have been involved in another murder incident in Maun that occurred on June 29, 2020.

“The victim in the suspected murder case, is the accused person’s mother,” said Sub-Insp. Gaseletsapa.

He said the accused person was yet to be charged in relation to the Maun murder.

Molapisi would appear for another mention on July 16. Ends
