Thieves target govt offices
02 Jul 2020
Police are on the lookout for individuals who recently broke into several government offices stealing IT equipment on different dates.
Station Commander, Superintendent Motlhaba Ramaabywa said, in an interview, that thieves broke into Motswakhumo Junior Secondary School premises and Lentsweletau Sub-land board offices stealing IT equipment of unspecified value.
Stolen items from the sub-land board offices, he said, included eight laptops, computers and tablets.
Supt. Ramaabywa said at Motswakhumo JSS, the thieves were intercepted by security officers and dropped the items they possessed and fled.
He said two similar incidents were reported at Lesilakgokong and Monwane primary schools, where television sets and decoders were stolen from the school head’s offices.
Suspects in all four cases remain at large and Supt. Ramaabywa has appealed to the public to assist with information that could lead to their arrest.
He raised concern about individuals who tended to aid such incidences by buying goods from individuals instead of alerting the police. Ends
