A 33-year-old mother of two, One Lekgowe of Mmaseetsele ward in Moshupa was on Monday further remanded in custody pending previous conviction records and mitigation scheduled for July 3.
The Kanye magistrate court heard that the accused person unreasonably left her three-year and one-year old children without further interest or care on them at Mmaseetsele ward in Moshupa.
It is reported that she left them with her mother on February 7, for her sentencing for the same offence but did not return to them until March 4. However, Lekgowe admitted that she also left them the same day with no legal justification and without revealing her whereabouts until her mother reported the matter to the police on March 9.
The accused person told the court that she had a problem of drug abuse at the time and decried lack of support from her family.
However, she said she had been getting psychological assistance from prison since she was arrested in March. The magistrate, Mr Daniel Nkau ordered the prosecution to avail the accused person’s previous records when the case continues on July 3. ends
