Gaborone West Police are appealing to the public to help them in the search for three men linked to the robbery that took place at Molapo Crossing Shopping complex on June 24.
In an interview with BOPA recently the Station’s Commander, Superintendent Onious Madziba said a 53-year-old man, an employee of Photo Africa was robbed while parking his vehicle at the complex.
“The man was with his wife when the suspects allegedly snatched the wife’s handbag.
According to the victim’s statement, inside the hand-bag was a purse with bank cards and a total sum of P1 200,” he said.
He said the suspects were using a Honda-Fit car with fake registration numbers thus making it difficult to trace the car.
Supt. Madziba added that the suspects were armed with a gun although it was not clear if it was pistol or a revolver.
He said that it had been long since such incidents were recorded at Molapo Crossing shopping complex.
“Ever since I was posted to Gaborone West police station in 2018, it has been quite peaceful at the complex as compared to the past years.
We thought that the complex is safe now,” he said.
Supt. Madziba encouraged the public to always be watchful whenever they are at parking areas at malls and other public areas and advised them to be always aware of their surroundings, saying doing so would help in police investigation.
"We know that it may not be easy because of panic, but where possible try,” he said. ends
