Murder investigations complete
25 Jun 2020
Prosecutor, Sub-inspector Keaipela Seekolo of Mogoditshane Police Station on June 25 told the court that investigations in the combi murder case are finally complete.
Appearing before Broadhurst Chief Magistrate Linah Mokibe-Oahile, Sub Inspector Seekolo said the postmortems, forensic results and witness statements had all been gathered and were awaiting submission by another prosecutor.
She said it was a breakthrough given the fruitless mentions and the time consumed with no progressive update from their side.
“We are yet to meet with the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) prosecutor and submit our findings. The prosecutor will come and submit them as we will be handing the case to them,” she said.
She said by the end of the following day she could assure the court to have met with the DPP prosecutor and the case could soon move to trial.
Sub-inspector Seekolo made an application that the second (Joseph Boheto) and fourth accused (Goldwin Nkunga) be further remanded in custody, as the evidence gathered did not allow them to be granted bail.
The accused persons Raven Mogapaesi, Joseph Boheto, Lethata Lesole and Goldman Nkunga: aged 23-24, are said to have allegedly stabbed one Wilson Chiundo and robbed other passengers of their valuables at knife point on July 11, 2019 at Mogoditshane village.
The victim sustained grievous wounds from the suspected okapi knife and was later on that day certified dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Chief magistrate Mokibe-Oahile ordered that the second and fourth accused persons be further remanded in custody.
The next mention has been set for July 23, when the DPP prosecutor is expected to submit the findings from the investigating officer. ENDS
