16 Jun 2020

A 52-year-old man of Botshabelo ward in Maun is helping police with investigations over the death of a 32-year-old man of Boseja ward in the same village.

In an interview with BOPA, Maun Police Station Commander Superintendent Chenamo Orateng said the incident happened around 10 in the morning on June 14.

Supt Orateng said the suspect allegedly shot the deceased with a shot gun, who was then taken to Letsholathebe Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

He said preliminary investigations suggested that the two had a misunderstanding over a horse that belonged to the suspect that the deceased had allegedly rode without permission. Supt Orateng said it was reported that the suspect saw the victim riding his horse the day before the incident.

However, on the day of the incident the victim was allegedly riding a donkey in the company of a relative.

Supt Orateng said the suspect is said to have enquired about the whereabouts of his horse and subsequently shot the deceased.  Ends
