Court awaits forensic results
12 Sep 2013
Forensic results in a case in which Mgcini Ncube is facing a charge of arson that took place in Sebina on August 9 are expected in two weeks time.
Appearing for the state before Francistown’s Magistrate Thebeetsile Mulalo on September 10, Insp. Jaloni Somolokae said investigations on the matter were on-going and that the investigating officer told him that results were expected from the forensic laboratory in a fortnight. Insp. Somolokae pleaded with the court to further remand the 34-year-old accused in custody.
For his part, Ncube pleaded with court to release him from custody because he had not committed any offence.
He said he had witnesses, including his employer, who could testify that he did not commit the offence. However, Magistrate Mulalo said the report from the forensic laboratory would determine whether or n or the accused could be remanded in custody. In the previous mention, when appearing for the state, Sgt Kabelo Moremi asked the court to remand the accused in custody pending the forensic laboratory report and another one from Interpol.
Sgt Moremi had then explained that the Interpol report would verify the nationality and the names of the accused as he did not have any form of identification with him. Magistrate Mulalo set September 25 as another mention date for the case. ENDS
