Molepolole police on May 14 apprehended three men and a woman for being in possession of a substance suspected to be dagga, weighing 200kg.
In an interview on May 15, Molepolole police Senior Superintendent Modise Gabatshwane said following a tip off, they arrested the suspects opposite Caltex Filling Station, who then led them to a house at Mokgopeetsane ward in Molepolole belonging to two of the four suspects.
“A consignment estimated at the value of P196 000 was confiscated from the house. The suspects are a teacher and his fiancée and two of his male relatives aged between 22 and 37,” he said.
He said the quartet is suspected to have smuggled the suspicious substance into the village.
He said they were in police custody and would appear for mention before Molepolole Magistrate court on May 18.
The police chief said he was worried at the rate, which dagga was sold in Molepolole.
“We are highly concerned at the appalling state of affairs leading to the increasing crime rate and unruly behaviour among youth and school going children in Molepolole and Thamaga,” he said. ENDS
