Speaking in an interview on May 13, he said of the 83, 53 were men and 30 were women. He said they were arrested for moving around without permits and for failing to adhere to the extreme social distancing regulations.

“We also arrested two men at Malete lands for stock-theft, being a 48-year-old man of Madiba ward and a 28-year-old Zimbabwean man," he said.

The duo, Sup. Malemenyane said stole two goats when the owner was in Mahalapye, adding that the police were notified by the owner who became aware of the incident when he returned to the lands.

“The owner commutes from Mahalapye to Malete lands and had left his small stock under the care of his Zimbabwean neighbour at the lands," he explained. The two men, he said were in custody and appeared before Mahalapye magistrate court on May 8.

Sup. Malete also noted that a 42-year-old Zimbabwean man was apprehended by police on patrol for illegal sand mining at Mmadipheretha.
