Man arrested fined for smuggling counterfeit cigarettes

Kasane police have arrested a 36-year-old man for selling counterfeit cigarettes.
Kasane Station Commander, Superintendent James Maabong said the man was arrested at a boat station behind Spar Supermarket Mall on May 10.
Superintendent Maabong said the man was found with 28 boxes of 20 packages of cigarettes.
He said their investigations revealed that the cigarettes were smuggled from Namibia.
Superintendent Maabong said the man was fined P1 200, which he paid.
He said the man was charged with smuggling and selling tobacco contrary to extreme social distancing regulations. Ends
