Police have charged 15 traders with non-compliance to extreme social distancing regulations in Molepolole.
Molepolole Administration Authority (MAA) senior assistant secretary, Mr Gofaone Kgabanyane, said they had been charged P500 each for failure to comply with the regulations.
He said most of the traders failed to disinfect their areas of operation prior to opening as required by law.
He also noted that some did not have sanitisers at entry points and did not have a register of customers for contact tracing purposes.
The businesses also failed to check the temperature of all persons entering their premises.
Furthermore, he said they seized some homemade sanitisers, adding that they could pose a risk to people’s lives.
He noted that they had written letters to all traders alerting them of what needed to be done, and has advised traders to follow all requirements before they open for business.
Meanwhile, some traders have claimed that they did not know what was required of them. ENDS
