Crime dips in Ranaka

08 May 2020

Police in Ranaka in the Southern District have recorded a drop in incidents of crime since implementation of extreme social distancing regulation.

Post commander, Inspector Tebogo Thejane, attributed this to the fact that residents were abiding by the COVID-19 regulations. She said they occasionally sensitised residents on the dangers of  coronavirus.

Inspector Thejane said they normally recorded several cases of assault from drinking spots across the village, but this stopped with the mandatory closure of all liquor outlets.

She thanked outlet owners for their cooperation, but urged patience until the situation normalised. She warned that any slip-up could spell doom for the village and beyond.

Inspector Thejane meanwhile cautioned parents to come up with ways to keep children engaged at home rather than letting them slip-out to play outside. She warned that playing outside with others outside could expose them to the deadly virus. ENDS
