BMC to improve ECCO

Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) is working on improved taste of their main canned beef product, ECCO.

“We are working on salt reduction and ingredient variation to cater for our different customers,” said BMC’s chief strategy officer, Mr Brian Dioka, in an interview.

Soon, Mr Dioka said, they would have tomato taste and other flavours to create variety portfolios and thus urged Batswana to continue buying the brand. He said ECCO was still touted as the best beef.

“The canned beef looks like it is not that much available in other stores because those stores prefer shelving their own brand. Otherwise ECCO consumers know that it is available,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Dioka encouraged Batswana to have consumer education and therefore should read dietary content information.

“Most people prefer low quality beef products yet in the long run would suffer health wise. The ECCO brand is a high-end product, it has 65 and 100 per cent beef content,” he said. ENDS
