Kasane woman cashes on masks demand
07 May 2020
Even before the government announced that beginning of May 1, people should start wearing face masks in public to stop the spread of the Corona-virus, a visionary business woman was busy manufacturing facemasks.
Ms Lydia Nchunga of Kasane saw that there is going to be an increased demand in homemade facemasks as the Ministry of Health and Wellness advised people to wear non-surgical masks.
Ms Nchunga, who operates a tailor shop at Botshabelo ward in Kasane said her decision to make cloth facemasks was aimed at assisting her fellow citizens to protect themselves against the deadly corona-virus.
She explained that because health supply stores across the country were experiencing high demand for surgical facemasks, homemade masks could be used as an alternative, giving small businesses the opportunity to manufacture them.
She started with a few orders a week before government declared that the wearing of facemasks was compulsory and after the announcement demand for masks increased. ENDS
