Orapa police investigate stocktheft

Police in Orapa are investigating a case in which two men in their early twenties were found in possession of 14 cattle suspected to have been stolen.
According to Officer Commanding District No.8 Senior Superintendent Sarah Gabathusi, the cattle were found in a kraal at Yokhudiga cattlepost in the outskirts of Mopipi.
Snr Supt Gabathusi said the cattle had various brands and nine had already been identified by the farmers.
Investigations are continuing, as the suspects are still at large.
If found quilty, she said they would be sentenced to a prison term not less than seven years or more than 14 years without the option of a fine.
In another case, a 27-year-old man of Katie ward in Mokobaxane was arrested on May 1 for allegedly stealing a cow at Xwiku farm.
Snr Supt Gabathusi stated that if found guilty, the suspect would be sentenced to a prison term of not less than five years provided he is a first offender.
She further advised the public to take care of their livestock as thieves were taking advantage of the extreme social distancing period. Ends
