Two men in Kanye were arrested and fined for breaching coronavirus regulation of extreme social distancing.

According to Sejelo Police Station Commander, Superintendent Mogomotsi Matlapeng, the two were fined P100 and P200 respectively for loitering after they failed to produce the required movement permits.

Superitendent Matlapeng however noted that since the beginning of the extreme social distancing arrangement, the culprits were the first to be arrested and fined under the COVID-19 regulations.

Superitendent Matlapeng acknowledged that the cooperation between the law enforcement agencies and the residents was cordial.
He warned that his team, which comprised the police and members of the Botswana Defence Force, were on their toes to ensure full compliance

Superitendent Matlapeng advised those who wished to exit their homesteads to seek permits as required and ensure that they carry them at all times.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man of Kgwakgwe ward was arrested for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old girl in Kanye. According to Spt Matlapeng, the man was arrested on April 30. Ends
