Ramotswa police have registered 18 cases of illegal trading in traditional beer during the lockdown.
In an interview, Ramotswa Station Commander, Superintendent Keoagile Tau said three cases were registered in Mogobane, another three at Taung and 12 in Ramotswa.
Superintendent Tau said women aged between 36 and 60 years were caught selling traditional beer in their respective homes during the lockdown, where sale of alcohol had been prohibited.
He said all the women were fined P1 000 each and that only seven had paid their fines while 11 had not.
Supt Tau appealed to residents in his policing area to abide by the extreme social distancing regulations.
On other issues, Supt Tau said he was concerned with the number of people who flocked to government offices seeking permits to visit their farms and fields.
He advised them to stay home, as that would protect them from contracting coronavirus. Ends
