A 52-year-old police officer has been arraigned before Ghanzi senior magistrate, Mr Thapelo Buang for a single count of murder.
The officer is accused of killing his wife at Kuke on Easter Monday.
The accused was remanded in custody and Magistrate Buang told court that owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a directive that bail applications should be made in writing and that the prosecution should also respond in writing.
The accused will appear again on April 30 for a status update.
In an interview, Botswana Police Service Assistant Commissioner Dipheko Motube said it was alleged that the accused and the deceased had a misunderstanding prior to the incident, and that it was alleged that the deceased was killed with a sharp instrument.
He said he was not in a position to share more information since investigations were still fresh.
Assistant Commissioner Motube appealed to the public to seek help when they had conflicts to avoid making decisions that could cost human life. Ends
