Two men charged with cybercime in Letlhakane

Two men appeared before Letlhakane magistrate court on Tuesday on charges related to cybercrime.
According to the station commander of Letlhakane Police Station, Senior Superintendent Sarah Gabathuse, a 41--year-old man residing in Letlhakane falsely published a picture on facebook, claiming that what was depicted took place in Letlhakane.
In another case, a 28-year-old man also residing in Letlhakane, used audio on social media alleging that there was a certain employee of Lazenby Company contracted at Lucara Botswana in quarantine.
Senior Superintendent Gabathuse called on the public to stop publishing stories that may cause harm to other members of society.
In addition, Senior Superintendent Gabathuse said the police have arrested 70 people for failure to remain in confinement. The suspects, she said, were found loitering at night without explanation.
In Mosu, the police have charged one person with failure to comply with COVID-19 regulations. She stated that the suspect was found selling six bottles of alcohol to some men who ran away upon arrival of the police at a certain complex. END
