Combi operators in Maun decry loss
14 Apr 2020
Some combi operators that have secured the permits to operate in Maun during the 28-day extreme social distancing period have raised a concern that they were making a loss.
In an interview with BOPA, one combi operator, Mr Hope Masheko said they had been instructed to transport only people who hold 'work' permits.
He said during this period they mainly transported people who worked for security companies and filling stations as such groups relied on public transport.
Mr Masheko said the 18 combis operating in Maun during the lockdown were disadvantaged since many companies and government departments had resorted to providing transport for their employees.
The other combi operator, Mr Itani Neo said it would be beneficial if they were allowed to transport people seeking essential services from hospitals and supermarkets. END
