Police disperse crowd at Molepolole kgotla
04 Apr 2020
Police were called in to disperse a crowd that gathered at Molepolole main kgotla today.
The crowd reportedly gathered at the kgotla even before offices were opened this morning and maintaining extreme social distancing proved a challenge as people stood or sat very close to each other.
They even chatted while waiting for the permits, prompting worried officials to call the authorities.
Chief’s representative, Ms Patricia Sechele said in an interview that people had come to apply for permits for various reasons, but they were worried that a lot of them wanted permits to go to their lands and shops.
She also indicated that their efforts to talk to the crowd to maintain the one or two metre distance as advised by health officials proved futile as they did not listen, but all they wanted was for their requests to be attended to.
She said they were then forced to call law enforcement officials to aid them after effortless talks. The police came in and ordered the crowd of about a 100 or so to disperse. Ends
