Police volunteer commits suicide

Serowe Police are investigating the death of a 50 year-old police volunteer who was found hanging from the rafters of a storeroom at his family compound at Maaloso ward in Serowe on Sunday March 15.

Superintendent Poloko Oteng told BOPA that the police were notified about the incident by the deceased’s 59 year-old relative.

The deceased, who was on sick leave at the time, used a rope to hang himself.

Supt Oteng said the relatives did not know what drove the deceased to take his life.

In another incident Serowe police received a report of a 42 year-old man of Mathuba ward who hanged himself in his house.

Supt Oteng said the man did not leave a note to explain his actions, adding that his family reported having not seen any signs of problems.

In yet another case, a 16 year-old boy shot his younger brother aged 11, with a pellet gun in the eye causing serious injury.

The incident, which was reported by the boys’ mother happened at Motshwane ward in Serowe on Monday March 16.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.

Meanwhile, Supt Oteng appealed to residents to seek professional help when faced with challenges and not resort to suicide. Ends
