Ndjavera mentions September 17
04 Sep 2013
Francistown's Magistrate Sijabuliso Siziba has set September 17 as another mention date for the case in which 22-year-old Thebe Njavera is facing murder charges.
Njavera allegedly murdered his two children earlier this year after a misunderstanding with their mother. He briefly appeared before Magistrate Siziba on September 3.
His lawyer, Mr Kabelo Gaonyadiwe of KK Sechele Attorneys told the court that they were waiting for an update from the prosecution on when the affidavit from the forensic laboratory would be available as per their request in the previous mention.
In response, the state counsel, Mr Chimbisane Sechele of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) said they had not received any update on the matter and promised to summon the investigating officer to come and update the court on when the affidavit would be available.
In response, Magistrate Siziba said there was no need for the investigating officer to come to court and urged the state counsel to find out when the report should be expected before coming for the next mention. Ndjavera is facing two counts of murder after allegedly murdering his two daughters aged two and four years old.
It is alleged that he used a sharp instrument to murder the toddlers in February in Somerset East location in Francistown. ENDS
