Kumakwane robbers still at large

17 Feb 2020

Thamaga police are searching for three robbery suspects who got away with an unspecified amount of money at the Kumakwane Puma Filling Station on Saturday night.

Thamaga Station Commander Superintendent Moses Kwarare confirmed the incident, stating that the trio made their way to the filling station around 9pm with their faces covered. He said the suspects fired warning shots from what was suspected to be a shotgun, raising panic among workers and the customers.

According to the station commander, during the commotion, the robbers a managed to get a VW car from one customer and used it as a getaway car and headed Gaborone direction. The alleged car was later found abandoned at Gabane.

Superintendent Kwarare appealed to anyone with information to come forward as the robbers appeared to be dangerous.

Superintendent Kwarare raised a concern over the increasing robberies that terrorised the business communities in Thamaga and its catchment areas. He said so far three cases had been reported in the current quarter and no arrest had been made.

The first incident was reported early February while another robbery incident was reported a week later in Kumakwane.

He, however, promised to put strategies in place to arrest the situation that appears to be on the increase.

None of the incident resulted in an enjury. ENDS
