Absa commits to customer centricity

11 Feb 2020

Absa Bank Botswana Limited managing director, Ms Keabetswe Pheko-Moshagane says the transition to Absa has allowed them to roll out a new fresh brand that reflects the bank’s unique African identity.

Speaking at the official unveiling of the newly branded Absa head office, Ms Pheko-Moshagane said Absa was leveraging its rich African heritage to drive relevant initiatives that could further unlock Botswana’s potential and support the country’s accelerated growth.

Ms Pheko-Moshagane words followed the recent development where Absa Group Limited went through a successful separation process to detach its operations in Africa from Barclays Public Limited Company.

The transformation, she said, was a dawn of a new day, not only for the company but also for customers whose needs and preferences were also changing in the increasingly digital times.

She thus reiterated Absa’s commitment to doing business that focused on creating a positive experience for the customer by maximising service and product offerings and building relationships with customers.

Ms Pheko-Moshagane said Absa has put customer innovation at the heart of their strategy, adding that Absa sees itself as a strategic partner to all its clients and recognised the ingenuity and tenacity of people across the continent, especially in Botswana. She noted that the bank would, therefore, continue to invest in digital platforms to offer more convenience as they work towards becoming a scalable digitally-led bank.“Our promise is that we will come together with our customers to reflect on what matters most and give a voice to their hopes and aspirations as our journey is one of becoming customer-obsessed, acknowledging the strength of our people and delivering results with an African heartbeat,” she said.

She said customers should expect to see the energy and vibrancy of the new Absa brand as the bank enters a new era which would highlight its strength and assets as an organisation.

Furthermore, Absa Bank Botswana Limited managing executive for transactional banking, Ms Yasmin Masithela said the new Absa brand had been inspired by the African continent and its people with the aim to unite Africa under a single purpose which was to bring the possibility of life.

She said Absa Botswana begins the new era fully embracing the new brand identity as an independent African bank with global scalability that is forward-looking and fit for the digital age.

With an overarching purpose of ‘bringing possibilities to life,’ Ms Masithela said the Absa group strategy launched in 2018 was centred on growth.

She said the bank understood the social-economic challenges as it had invested P8.2 million for a community investment programme that benefitted 200 schools across Botswana which included the launch of financial literacy lessons at schools. ENDS
