Kgosis case to be reassigned
26 Jan 2020
Former Directorate of Intelligence and Security Services (DIS) director general Isaac Kgosi’s case has been postponed to February 25 as it has to be reassigned.
The need for reassignment follows the departure for further studies of substantive magistrate, Masilo Mathaka. The case was adjourned Friday after Directorate of Public Prosecution’s (DPP) Thato Dibeela requested a postponement in order for the court to advice on issues pertaining to the reassignment of the case to another magistrate.
Kgosi is accused of leaking the identities of DIS operatives involved in a covert intelligence operation last year.
A warrant of arrest was issued against Kgosi last year after he breached his bail conditions by travelling to Malaysia but was later withdrawn following his return to the country.
His attorneys had argued that their client had travelled to Malaysia for medical treatment on the advice of a local doctor and that he had informed the prosecution before leaving the country. ENDS
