Mob attacks two men in Paje

Police are investigating a case in which four people sustained injuries when a mob attacked two people after a 39-yer-old man who went missing on December 13 last year was found near Sebabi cattlepost, six kilometers from the villge, hanging from a tree.

Serowe Police Officer Commanding, Mr Paul Oketsang told BOPA in an interview that they received a report about a suicide on Monday around 1030am following which the corpse was taken to Sekgoma Memorial Hospital mortuary, where the deceased family members later identified  him to be that of the missing person. The deseased hails from Mampa ward in Paje.

He said later at around 5:30pm, they received another call indicating that a mob was attacking a man together with the village headman, accusing them of murdering the deceased.

Mr Oketsang indicated that the man managed to escape while the headman injured four people in  an attempt to protect himself from the attackers.

He however said the Police managed to contain the angry mob, which also attempted to destroy property at the headman’s yard.

He advised that the law forbade taking matters into one's hands and that such incidents should always be reported to the police. ENDS
