Police in Pandamatenga are investigating an incident in which a 63-year-old Zambian man died in a Gaborone-Kasane bus on January 5.

In an interview, Superintendent Nelson Museke said prior to his demise, the man had allegedly complained of chest pains.

Supt Museke said when the bus left Francistown, the man moved from his seat to occupy the space by the bus entrance, but when asked to pave way for one of the passengers in Pandamatenga, he was found lifeless and the matter was reported to the police.

He said the man was rushed to Pandamatenga clinic, where he was confirmed dead.

The police boss said the deceased’s body was at Kasane Primary Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem and his relatives had been informed.

Supt Museke said apart from the incident, the Christmas and New Year holidays were well spent.

In Kasane, the acting station commander, Assistant Superintendent James Kabangu said they were investigating a stealing from a dwelling house case, in which goods estimated at P25 400 were stolen from a house in Riverside.

ASP Kabangu said on January 4 around 6p.m, the owner of the house left for dinner and returned at around 8:15pm to find goods house items scattered in the house.

He said the stolen goods included a laptop, cellphones and a play station.

He said it was established that the owner of the house forgot to lock the back door when leaving for dinner, leading to the thieves gaining entry through it.

He said the police had arrested two male suspects aged 30 and 35 years in Kazungula, who were found in possession of the laptop and one of the stolen cellphones.

He said though the other gadgets were not found, the two suspects were helping police with their investigations.

ASP Kabangu appealed to the public to always ensure windows were closed and doors locked before leaving their houses or to ensure there was always somebody responsible for their houses when they away. Ends
