The Moshaweng murder suspect, who is accused of causing two murders and unlawfully wounding two victims, will appear for mention before Molepolole Magistrate Court on January 7.
The accused, Keautwile Botena aged 25 from Sau Boseja ward in Thamaga, allegedly killed Kgalalelo Tom and Kagiso Hume by stabbing them with a sharp object suspected to be a knife and also stabbed and caused fatal wounds on Ronald Elijah and Katlego Bogate following a misunderstanding at a drinking spree.
The suspect appeared before Molepolole Chief Magistrate, Kefilwe Resheng recently and during the court session, Sub Inspector Maureen Segokgo informed the court that Elijah who was hospitalised at Scottish Livingstone Hospital since the incident, had recently been transferred to Princes Marina Hospital as the medical records showed that the victim was still in a critical condition.
Sub Inspector Segokgo also explained that Bogate, who was treated and discharged on the same day of the incident was readmitted on December 17 and discharged two days later at Scottish Livingstone Hospital after a crack was identified on his skull.
She said the medical records showed that a sharp object, which was used by the accused during the incident, caused the crack.
She further told the court that they were still waiting to be issued with affidavits, which permit them to perform postmortem on the deceased.
As a result, she pleaded with the court that the accused be remanded in custody while investigations were on going. ends
