Centy hosts festival for charity

A Tsabong-based musician, Cynthia Sethibang aka Centy Mduduzi has planned to undertake a charity festival for the less privileged students at community junior and senior secondary schools.
The festival that will feature President’s Day Competition winners renowned polka dance group Gareng Ga Dithota of Khawa is scheduled for Friday and Saturday. The festival would be held nationally and the musician said he planned to sponsor one student per school. Such a student will be identified by the social and community development (S&CD) offices.
The project, which is a brainchild of Centy and Charma-boi, is expected to help new entrants enhance their images with their benevolence though Centy was quick to point out that it was not intended to take advantage of the needy.
Though she spent about 10 years as a backing vocalist for various established artistes, Centy only broke into the scenes as a solo artist in 2012. She was cagey about whether or not she was settled to the extent that she could venture into charity work.
“Of course it (charity festival) has the potential to popularise us as the new entrants but our main intention is to help those in need,” Centy said and appealed to the community and fellow artistes to join their worthy course. She said as artistes, they had the duty to give back to their supporters and hence they started their benevolence with students and would later extend to the general community. ENDS
