FC Legends dismal performance worries chairperson

The National Women Football committee chairperson, Itsholeng Disang has expressed distress over FC Legends’ dismal performance since the beginning of Gaborone Region Women football league.

She said this after FC Legends were clobbered 24-0 by Double Action in a league game played at Gaborone over the weekend.

The chairperson said the results was a clear indication that the team was not fully prepared to play in the league given the previous weekend results in, which they were beaten 10-0 by Prison.

“Botswana Football Association wants women football to be played in all regions and some women players might end up shunning football, given the avalanche of goals some teams conceed, week in and week out,” she said.

Disang said FC Legends and Vicomates must be supported, adding that the time was now to empower their coaches.

FC Legends and Double Action encounter was one-sided as the league’s favourites piled pressure on their weak opponents.

FC Legends made only two attempts, which Double Action goalkeeper, Peloyame Mangole saved in the whole 90 minutes.

Leading the pack with goals was Lesego Radiakanyo, who scored eight goals, followed by Captain Bonang Otlhagile with five goals while Boitumelo Gammu and Leungo Senwelo netted three each.

Kelebonye Thipe scored twice and Kesego Matlhatsa, Balotlhani Johannes and Tshegofatso Moletle each scored a goal.

FC Legends coach, Victor Tshambani said they continued to lose games because they did not train as a team due to different commitments.

He further stated that the fixtures were unfavourable as some of the players were working.

“We have a serious challenge. Sometimes, we are slotted for a 9am game, which makes things difficult for us,” he said.

For his part, Double Action coach, Agreement Podi said he was happy with his side’s performance as they registered their fifth consecutive win.

In other games played, Prison continued their winning feat beating FC Ambassadors 13-0 while log leaders, Geronah extended their lead by drubbing Gaborone United 4-1. Ends
