Sankoyo Bush Bucks defeat Green Lovers

Sankoyo Bush Bucks head coach, Anthony Timothy has expressed disappointment at his boys’ poor performance during their encounter against Serowe-based, Green Lovers despite winning the game.
Sankoyo beat Green Lovers 1-0 collecting maximum points to improve its log standing during the First Division North encounter played at Maun Sport Complex over the weekend.
Though he was happy about the win, Timothy described the game as the worst played compared to previous encounters.
He added that even though he had to change their approach to the game from 4-4-3 to 4-4-2, the boys still continued to perform below par.
However, he indicated that such could have been a result of high temperatures since they were sloppy throughout the game despite thorough preparations.
The two clubs had once played in the premier league and that gave Sankoyo fans hope that their team would utilise home advantage and score more goals.
On the other hand, Green Lovers head coach, Othusitse Kootswele appreciated the result, saying losing 0-1 was not bad considering that he was using a young squad, aged between 17 and 20 years while only two are 27.
“This is the future of football and as a development coach, I am very excited to develop and nurture talent,” he added.
Kootswele gave credit to his boys saying they played to the best of their ability even though they lost.
Tactically, he said the boys were trained to match their opponents hence they did not show any respect to Sankoyo or feel that the opposition was superior.
He also attributed their loss to high temperatures, which he said made the boys struggle throughout the game.
He said he had to make forced substitutes as some players complained of dizziness while some of muscle cramps.
Meanwhile, the match was poorly attended and the game started at a low tempo due to the high temperatures.
Both teams struggled to cope with the heat but Sankoyo increased the pace after ten minutes of the game.
Their efforts were rewarded in the 15th minute of the first half through an easy goal by their striker Ontebanye Xaa and they maintained the score until half time.
After the break, Green Lovers took control of the game creating many chances which they however failed to convert.
Both teams made several substitutes but that did not make much of difference until the last minute of the game with the score sheet still reading 1-0 in favour of Sankoyo. Ends
