He said the college took pride in imparting functional knowledge that could ignite positive change on learners as well as society in economic, cultural and intellectual dimensions.

Mr Tapedza said the college had an obligation to generate new ideas and be innovative in order to contribute in resolving societal challenges.

He explained that the college believed in fostering students’ success that was focused, not just on academic excellence, but also attributes that build a more dynamic society.

He noted that the effectiveness of the college’s work depended, to a considerable extent, on maintaining a credible analytical capability, adding that the launch was intended to give key stakeholders an opportunity to appreciate the upgraded  equipment.

On other issues, Mr Tapedza said the college was awarded the status of the best public college for two conservative years, as a result of its enviable environment, which was conducive for learning, stressing that the available infrastructure and facilities provided a robust enabling environment for teaching and learning.

For his part, Principal Technical Education Officer, Mr Morgan Kgabi said the day marked a great milestone for the Applied Laboratory Science department, as it had been longing for such equipment.

He said the courses offered by the college were industrially driven and of good quality.

One of the Applied Laboratory Science (ALS) students, Mr Obakeng Monei said the upgraded equipment would enable them to be more prepared for the fourth industrial revolution, which the country was preparing to transition to, as science was the primary component. Ends
