UEFA hosts workshop for association

A union of European Football Associations (UEFA) delegation has arrived in the country to host a workshop for Botswana Football Association (BFA).
The workshop is aimed at assisting the BFA in running its day to day business in order to develop the game.
The delegation met with different stakeholders, amongst them the media and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development to take note of how to help the association
BFA general secretary, Mfolo Mfolo said in October last year there was a UEFA/CAF GS Academy where all general secretaries were capacitated on various topics that make a life of a general secretary, amongst them leadership, governance, event management, football operations, sponsorship and marketing.
He said from there they were assigned to do an audit of their federations to establish the critical areas that they think could benefit their federations to collaborate with UEFA.
“So UEFA is here for five days. They arrived on Sunday, and besides doing the leadership retreat, they have to meet other stakeholders that are critical to the life of the federation, the media, standing committees, judicial bodies and senior national team head coach,” he said.
UEFA head of international relations, Eva Pasquier said the UEFA assist programme was created two years ago after the election of UEFA president, Aleksander ÄŒeferin, who then emphasised that UEFA should go outside Europe to help national associations and confederations.
She said the president also said it was important for UEFA to exchange and share with other federations, adding that the idea of the programme was to work with other federations and their members in critical areas of football development.
Furthermore, Pasquier said some of the areas that they touched on included capacity building, small infrastructure project technical development and collaboration between UEFA and other federations.ENDS
