13 Nov 2019
Lekgaba Hill Primary School Head, Mr Shadrack Jani says those that work hard and remain committed to their work should be recognised and rewarded accordingly.
Speaking during the school’s excellence award ceremony on November 12, themed; Hard Work and Commitment: A Recipe For Success, Mr Jani said he was impressed with the school’s past performance.
He noted that the school had been performing well, citing that in 2017 it scored a 93.5 per cent pass rate from the Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE), while in 2018, it attained 86.4 per cent.
He said although there was a drop of percentage, the school maintained its first position above other primary schools in the North East region.
Mr Jani said thanked parents and other stakeholders for the school’s good performance, revealing that parents approved and supervised home study groups for their children.
“We celebrate parents because they allow their children to host study groups in their homes, which shows that indeed they do care about their children’s future,” he said.
Mr Jani further said the school was determined to continue being the best, by committing to the North East primary schools’ vision of producing a 90 per cent pass rate from every class.
He said that the school had been facing the challenge of accepting learners with low grades from other schools, but he was grateful to Lekgaba teachers for their tireless efforts in ensuring that they groom such into high achievers.
Botswana Teachers Union (BTU), Francistown Regional Administration Officer, Mr Edward Moreti applauded Lekgaba staff and stakeholders for their hard work.
Mr Moreti advised the school staff to hold on and press forward through the challenges they encountered and stay committed to obtaining good results.
He pledged P2000 on behalf of BTU, towards the development of the school, while Botswana Prisons Service (BPS) donated a printer worth P10 600, a toner and printing papers worth P2 000.
Senior Superintendent McDonald Mosenki of BPS said he hoped the donation would enhance the school’s productivity. Ends
