Galaxy hit another home blank

Jwaneng Galaxy’s home record continues to leave a lot to be desired.
The team, Wednesday, played to a nil-all draw with Extension Gunners, a fourth draw in home games.
That was despite having gone seven games unbeaten in the BTC Premiership.
However, Galaxy seemed to be good travellers because they won all their three away games.
Galaxy supporters have an expectation that their team should perform better this season and even win the premiership after being piped to the title by two points by Township Rollers last season.
While such an expectation might come with pressure on the technical bench, Galaxy gaffer, Miguel Da Costa said such was not the case with him.
“If you look closely at the general performance of the team, we do not lack much. We have been playing well and all that we lack is scoring goals.
That is all we need to correct and all will fall into place. There is no pressure whatsoever from the home supporters,” he said.
Da Costa said he was also confident that the problem would be rectified in time before the league slipped from their hands.
In the game that was full of hard tackles from the first whistle and seemingly dissatisfaction by both benches on the level of officiating, both teams seemed to be determined for the full points, but were let down by poor coordinating as they seemed in a hurry to score and settle, especially in the first half.
The game was also lightened up by a few individual brilliances, especially from players such as Gunners winger, Ashton Esterhuizen, who was giving the Galaxy defence a torrid time
Gunners also brought a few youthful players in the absence of seasoned players such as Dirang Moloi who were out injured.
Young players who are the U20s such a Anderson Makolontwana and Brendon Kenosi made good impression to the satisfaction of their coach, Stanley Mwanga.
In a post-match interview, Mwanga indicated that young players only needed to be given more time to gain experience.
“I opted for these young men because I knew they have pace. Our plan was to defend deep because we were aware that Galaxy preferred to build from defense, then we would catch them on the counter. So when you plan on counter attacks you need speedy players like these young boys,” he said.
On the game in general, Mwanga indicated that a point collected was not a bad result, although he had some reservations on what he said were two penalty appeals that they were denied.
After the game, there was friction between Da Costa who had heated argument with match officials before he took his frustrations onto the home fans on the stands, although he claimed in the post-match interview that all was well.
The results left Galaxy on third spot while Gunners were still on the relegation zone above Gilport Lions and Notwane. ENDS
