Police investigate rape of two children

Serowe police are investigating two cases of defilement which occurred at two wards in Serowe on October 20 and 26. In an interview, the Serowe Station Commander Superintendent Poloko Oteng, said two four-year-old children were allegedly defiled at Newtown and Molokatsela wards in Serowe.
Supt Oteng said in the first incident at Newtown, the mother of the child became suspicious that her child might had been defiled while bathing her.
She then took the child to Sekgoma Memorial hospital, where the doctor confirmed defilement.
He said the unknown culprit was still at large and police investigations were still ongoing.
In another incident at Molokatsela ward, a four-year-old child was defiled at her home during the night.
Supt Oteng said the 32-year-old suspect was caught red-handed and was still in police custody.
He explained that according to the mother, the child was sleeping in the house and the mother went outside the house, when she came back she found the culprit forcing himself on the child.
Supt Oteng said rape cases in Serowe and surrounding areas continued to rise despite police warnings for people to be cautious and alert. ends
