A 41-year-old Mmankgodi woman is recuperating at Princess Marina Hospital after being assaulted and raped while a 26-year-old man of the same village is in police custody for allegedly stabbing another to death.

Thamaga station commander Superintendent Moses Kwarare said the two incidents occurred at Mmankgodi on October 12.

Superintendent Kwarare said the woman was attacked by an unknown intruder who broke into her house, blindfolded her, demanded money, beat her up and raped her before dragging her to a vehicle and driving to Gabane where he abandoned it with the victim inside.

He said the matter was reported by a passerby who spotted the woman inside the abandoned car. Police have launched a manhunt for the perpetrator.

In the second incident, the 26-year-old allegedly stabbed another man to death with a sharp instrument inside Jacaranda Bar before disappearing into the night.

The alleged murderer was handed over to Mogoditshane police by members of his family the following day.

The deceased is lying at Thamaga Primary Hospital while police investigations are continuing. ENDs
