Lekganyane to mention December
06 Oct 2019
The case in which Elias Lekganyane is accused of raping a 12-year-old girl in Ledumang in April will continue for mention on December 19.
The accused appeared before Broadhurst magistrate, Mr Gaseitsiwe Tonoki on continuation of his failure to adhere to his bail conditions last week.
Mr Tonoki said since he did not have a clear background of what stage the case was at, he could only set the next mention date for when the substantive magistrate, Ms Linah Mokibe-Oahile was available.
A prosecutor from the Department of Public Prosecution, Ms One Molefe, told the court that the investigating officer had been away for some time and would tell the court how the case would continue at the next mention.
She said they were also awaiting results from the forensic department and assessment statements from the social worker.
Ms Molefe said having recently been given the case, she was still familiarising herself with it, hence the plea for the next appearance to be before the substantive magistrate.
The accused person remains on bail. ENDS
