Residents of Rakops have been urged to keep hoping that police would establish their chief’s cause of death and bring perpetrators to book.
Vice President Mr Slumber Tsogwane implored residents to be comforted following the demise of Kgosi Lepang Segaise, who died under mysterious circumstances.
He was laid to rest on October 1.
Kgosi Segaise, 96, reportedly went missing on August 15 together with his Honda CRV model vehicle.
Numerous police searches were carried out and eventually his burnt car and remains were found on September 25 about 15 kilometres from Rakops.
Speaking on Independence Day at Rakops kgotla, Mr Tsogwane said Rakops people had suffered a great loss since the late Kgosi Segaise was well versed with the history of the village. Mr Tsogwane said government and the nation’s traditional leadership were concerned about mysterious deaths noting that another chief lost his life in a similar manner in the Boteti Sub-district some time back. ends
