Murder accused face another charge
19 Aug 2019
Four men accused of killing a Mogoditshane combi passenger were on August 19 remanded further in custody pending investigations.
The prosecutor, Inspector Keaipela Seekolo who made the application before Magistrate Gaseitsewe Tonoki of Broadhurst Magistrate Court, also amended the charge sheet and added another count of robbery.
The accused persons Lethata Lesole, Joseph Boheto, Raven Mogapaesi and Goldman Nkunga are said to have allegedly stabbed one Wilson Chiundo and robbed other passengers of their valuables at knifepoint on July 11 at Mogoditshane.
Mogapaesi expressed his disappointment in the investigation officer for failing to submit before the court the evidence he had asked for during the previous mention.
He said the prosecution’s requests were always acted upon whereas theirs were not saying it was clear whose’ side the magistrate was on. Mogapaesi pleaded with the magistrate to allow him to await trial outside as the suffering in prison intensified on a daily basis.
Fourth accused Nkunga told the court that he could not appear before Magistrate Gaseitsewe as their case was big saying Broadhurst Magistrate Court Chief Magistrate Linah Mokibe-Oahile was the only one who could attend to it. Magistrate Tonoki, however, told the accused that it had only been a month since the investigations began which was a reasonable time that one could not complain about.
He said the prosecution should be given the time to visit all victims and witnesses to gather all the evidence. ENDS
