Ever since he was adopted by Marang Spar, Boikobo received monthly grocery from the store and it also bought her school uniform. The store’s customer care manager, Gotewang Kemisetso, said in an interview that the shop pledged to assist Boikobo, who identified through “wish upon a star” cast after a certain woman had told them that there was a boy by the name of Boikobo David who needed an artificial leg.
He said they would assist Boikobo until completing his Cambridge level, adding that every year, Spar identified a needy person to assist. Kemisetso explained that Spar had a programme of giving back to the community and it was through this project that the chain store came up with the charity tournament.
He said the tournament started in 2015 and participating teams from 12 to 28.
Francistown deputy mayor, Godisang Radisigo, applauded Marang Spar for coming up with a project of giving back to the community. He said this was a welcome development looking at the fact that government alone could not afford to help each and every needy person.
