Man in custody for threat to kill

A 51-year-old man of Sesana cattlepost in Sesung was on August 5 arraigned before Kanye magistrate Daniel Nkau to answer for a single count of threat to kill.
Kealobona Koobatlile reportedly uttered the words, ‘Gompieno ke tsile go go bolaya, wena ke ya toronkong o sala o ratana’ without lawful excuse to Bontle Maselo at Sesana cattlepost on July 22 this year.
The prosecution, led by Sergeant Mabutho Mabutho, requested that the accused person be remanded in custody as police investigations were still ongoing.
The court also heard that the accused was the plaintiff’s boyfriend and they were living together.
“Giving him bail might give him the opportunity to complete his mission,” Sgt Mabutho said.
Therefore, he pleaded with the court to extend the accused person’s remand warrant while looking for alternative accommodation for the plaintiff.
The accused person said he had been detained since July 24 and his detention was affecting his job as a herdboy.
He said he did not know where the livestock that were left in his care were.
Koobatlile also told the court that he was taking care of his young school-going children, one of whom was sick and depended on him to take him for medical check-ups in Gaborone.
He further said he was not well as he once had a car accident and now needed to go for check-up regularly.
However, the magistrate extended his remand warrant and he is expected to appear for mention on August 19. ENDS
