Serowe police are investigating a case in which a 31-year-old man of Ramogate ward in Serowe committed suicide near Metsimasweu River. Prior to this, the deceased reportedly sent suicidal messages to his brother on Monday night.
Station commander, Superintendent Molefe Molefe, said the deceased’s body was found by his brother hanging from a tree. He was certified dead at Sekgoma hospital.
Superintendent Molefe said the deceased’s brother told them that the young man arrived home in the evening looking depressed.
He said one of the messages he sent read, “ke tsamaile le tlaa nkgopola ka ditiro tsame” (I am gone, you will remember me by my deeds).
He said the family was still startled by actions of the deceased, who was self-employed and lived with his parents and younger brothers.
Supt Molefe advised the public to seek advice whenever they had problems. “One must not let problems pile on without disclosing them to others," he said.
He said pastors, counsellors and the police were there to assist. Supt Molefe stated that, recently, another young man in Serowe committed suicide after killing his girlfriend. Ends
