Kanye man to appear for another murder case

A 29-year-old man of Mmamokhasi Ward in Kanye will soon appear before Kanye Magistrate Court in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old man of the same ward.
Kanye police station commander, Superintendent Mmoloki Mogale, said the suspect was on bail for another murder case that occurred last year.
It was a gruesome killing of a young woman around Jwaneng during the 1 000km Toyota Desert Race.
In the recent case, the suspect reportedly fought with the deceased man, both using knives and stabbed each other.
He said the fight took place after midnight, near The Library Bar at Goo-Lobeko Ward over President’s holidays.
He said a police team arrested the pair, which was taken to the Kanye Adventist Hospital with serious injuries. He said the other man was later certified dead by doctors.
“Investigations are still ongoing and we are yet to establish exactly what may have caused the fight as the surviving man is still in hospital,” he said.
Supt Mogale advised people to always consider other methods of handling disputes, such as reporting to elders or the police wherever they had misunderstandings, rather than taking the law into their hands.
In other things, Supt Mogale said they were investigating a case in which a 70-year-old woman of Goo-Modutlwa was raped in her house around midnight.
The suspect, who was arrested, has admitted to the crime, adding that police had engaged forensic specialist to establish if evidence tied the culprit to the incident.
Supt Mogale also said they were searching for a suspect who raped a 23-year-old woman at her home in Kebuang Ward at night.
He said the victim forgot to lock the door, which the intruder used to gain access into the house. ENDS
